West Ham handed their hopes of Premier League survival a significant boost at the weekend, defeating fellow relegation strugglers Southampton 3-0 to move five points clear of the drop zone.

The Hammers still have plenty of work to do ahead of a crucial London derby against Chelsea this weekend, whilst they also still have Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United to play, but the club seem optimistic on their chances.

The Daily Mirror reports West Ham’s board are ready to hand David Moyes an extended deal after he impressed in the battle to avoid the drop, with the Scotsman’s initial deal only lasting until the end of the current campaign.

Moyes is preparing for his future at the London Stadium, already outlining transfer plans and assessing potential destinations for pre-season, and it appears the former Manchester United and Sunderland boss will be the man looked towards to improve the club’s fortunes.

He will be trusted in the market ahead of a major recruitment drive, with the Hammers already making changes behind the scenes as they prepare to appoint a director of football.
