West Ham have handed their survival hopes a huge boost with an upturn of form in recent weeks, pushing six points clear of the relegation zone.

The Hammers know their is still work to do though as that margin could swiftly be overturned and Monday’s clash with fellow strugglers Stoke City will be vital.

Whilst West Ham need to continue their strong form, they may also require a helping hand from elsewhere and assistant boss Stuart Pearce has stated he hopes Southampton will be relegated.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said:

“Well I hope they will be, because that might just help us out a touch! I think it’s going to be tough for them, I think they’re in the mix.”

“I think West Brom are in a bit of trouble at the moment but I think it’s any two from six on and beyond that and a couple of head-to-heads leading into the end of the season are going to be vital.”

West Ham still have huge clashes to come against Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal, as well as tackling Everton and Leicester City.
