West Ham boss David Moyes has started to make preparations for the summer transfer window and the Hammers are set to enter the running for a bargain defensive deal, fighting Premier League rivals in the battle.

The Sun cites reports that Moyes is ready to make a move to sign Jonny Evans from rock-bottom side West Brom, who look set to be relegated to the Championship, and will look to take advantage of his bargain £3m release-clause.

However, West Ham will not be alone in the fight for the services of the Northern Ireland international as Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City and Leicester have all been attributed with interest in the defender during the past 12 months.

Last August, Leicester were reported to have had a £10m bid rejected by the Baggies and Manchester City also saw an offer of £18m turned down, though it’s likely the Citizens won’t return in the market after landing Aymeric Laporte from Athletic Bilbao in January.
