West Ham moved seven points ahead of the relegation zone with a 1-1 draw with Stoke City on Monday evening, though they required a last-gasp goal from Andy Carroll to snatch a point.

The Potters fell behind in the second half after the latest error from Joe Hart saw the England World Cup hopeful fumble a shot from Xherdan Shaqiri, presenting Peter Crouch with a tap-in and leaving Hart attracting further criticism.

After the game, Hammers boss David Moyes spoke about the incident and stated he was ‘surprised’ by Hart’s error, despite the fact that the Manchester City loanee has encountered plenty of problems during his spell on-loan.

Speaking to reporters, Moyes said:

“He had two very similar shots in the first half. So it was a surprise that it spilled out. If you’re a goalkeeper, it’s going to happen [mistakes]. I said after he made great saves at Chelsea ‘well done’. Just like tonight, I’ll tell him he should have done better.”

Hart is extremely unlikely to earn a permanent transfer to West Ham following his stint at the club and faces a huge battle to retain his spot as England’s number one for this summer’s World Cup.
