West Ham face a stern test this summer as they embark on a major recruitment drive, which follows what has been another disappointing campaign for the Hammers at the London Stadium.

Three consecutive defeats to Liverpool, Swansea City and Burnley have left the east London side hovering just three points above the relegation zone heading into the final few months of the campaign, where a host of key matches will take place.

The Hammers are due to clash with relegation rivals Southampton and Stoke City in the coming weeks but also face difficult clashes against Premier League giants Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal.

One area where West Ham have struggled this season is in the attacking third, where a lack of consistency has led to immense problems for the Hammers- and fans should certainly get excited about one of the latest names linked with a move to the London Stadium.

FC Basel’s Mohamed Elyounoussi has emerged as a prime target for a number of Premier League sides and West Ham are amongst those interested- and the Hammers should ensure they win the race for his services.

The 23-year-old Moroccan international caught the eye in the Champions League last week in the Swiss side’s remarkable victory over Manchester City, although they tumbled out of the competition on aggregate.

Elyounoussi scored the opening goal at the Etihad Stadium and then provided the assist for the winning goal and his ability in the final third would certainly prove to be beneficial for a Hammers side searching for that sort of cutting edge.

At his age, Elyounoussi also presents tremendous sell-on value and also has the capability to develop further in the future- although winning the race for his services would prove to be a difficult task.
