West Ham fans would have hoped that the sorry scenes from the 3-0 defeat to Burnley have been left in the past but it appears that’s unfortunately not the case.
A number of pitch invasions occurred during the Hammers’ last defeat before the international break, which resulted in lifetime bans to the five individuals found guilty of breaching the stadium regulations- and that seemingly ended the issues.
However, The Sun now reports that West Ham have rescinded one of the bans after identifying the wrong fan- leaving one member of the guilty party still on the run.
Club officials traced the pitch invaders to their seats using CCTV but issued a ban to the wrong fan, after a mix-up led to him sitting elsewhere in the stadium, alongside a friend, and his seat instead being used by a supporter who decided to run onto the field.
That mix-up has been resolved, leaving the wrongly accused supporter free to return, but it means the Hammers are still yet to fully complete their investigation.
