West Ham have been handed a major boost with the news that a midfield target could be available for £20m this summer, with his current side changing their stance significantly.
The Hammers have been searching for improvements for their options in the middle of the park for the past few months, having failed to bolster their ranks significantly during the January transfer window- signing Joao Mario on-loan.
However, it’s widely reported that West Ham won’t look to make the Portuguese international’s move from Inter Milan permanent and other targets are being considered, including Fulham captain Tom Cairney.
The 27-year-old has caught the eye with his performances in recent seasons, with Watford and Newcastle United also attributed with interest, and a frenzy could now be sparked as The Mirror state Fulham will consider a sale this summer if they do not get promoted to the Premier League.
Cairney’s services could therefore be available for a fee worth around £20m and the Scotsman would certainly be a solid candidate for West Ham to draft into their ranks.
