West Ham saw themselves sucked back into the relegation dogfight after a 4-1 drubbing against fellow relegation contenders Swansea City on Saturday, which has left the Hammers just three points above the relegation zone.

David Moyes’ side now face a crucial run-in during the final nine matches of the season but the Scottish boss has made a stark admission concerning the Hammers’ survival hopes, claiming his side aren’t good enough to win their upcoming games.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the defeat in south Wales, Moyes said:

“They have been told this was miles and miles away from where I’m going – or they are going. If they are going to play like that, then there’ll be none of us here.”

“The players need to show a wee bit, but I think they are good enough to do that but they definitely all need to up their levels, because this wouldn’t be good enough to win the games we’ve got coming up.”

“I’d like the message to be that we’ll be fine, but the truth of the matter is we’re not. I want us to be positive and look forward, but we have to stop conceding goals.”

West Ham face Burnley this weekend, with the Clarets having ended an 11-match winless streak at the weekend against Everton, before a three-week absence from Premier League fixtures.
