West Ham’s Premier League status may be under significant threat, as the Hammers sit just three points above the relegation zone, but it seems the East London side are optimistic about their chances of retaining their top-flight position.

David Moyes’ side look set to fight for a busy summer transfer window as they seek to find the consistency that’s escaped them following their move to the London Stadium and the latest reports suggest a big-money deal could be on the cards.

Portuguese outlet O Jogo claim that West Ham scouts were recently in attendance to watch Sporting Lisbon’s cup defeat to Porto, with 26-year-old Rodrigo Battaglia the man attracting the Hammers’ interest.

The 26-year-old Sporting Lisbon midfielder was reportedly a target during the last transfer window, where the Hammers eventually signed Portuguese ace Joao Mario on-loan from Inter Milan, but remain keen on further additions.

Argentine ace Battaglia could be the right fit for the Hammers, particularly as he’s set to enter the prime years of his career, but his price-tag could be a potential sticking point.
