West Ham’s board is certainly not the most popular in the Premier League and fans have been full of criticism in the past few years, following the controversial move to the London Stadium.

Leaving Upton Park was emotional for the supporters and they have not seen the improvements they were promised on the field, with the Hammers battling to avoid relegation for the second season in a row.

David Moyes’ side are just three points above the relegation zone heading into the business end of the season and a crucial run of fixtures lies ahead, where the Hammers must battle fellow strugglers Swansea, Southampton and Stoke over the course of the next five matches.

Fans are searching for long-term stability and the fact that West Ham don’t own the London Stadium is seen as a major issue. However, co-chairman David Gold has suggested it could be a possibility in the future.

Gold retweeted a post on social media from a supporter which suggested that the stadium could be purchased further down the line. The post read:

“The (stadium) situation is not beyond redemption. The stadium ownership is sure to come up again soon. At which point we could find ourselves sole owners with the opportunity to address all these issues.”

Owning the stadium would certainly help to make it feel like ‘home’ but there’s certainly a few hurdles to overcome before that becomes a possibility.
