West Ham have endured a difficult spell this season but a massive boost was provided on Saturday afternoon, with the Hammers defeating Watford 2-0 and handing their survival hopes a huge lift.
It follows on from a difficult January transfer window for David Moyes’ side, where a number of deals were reportedly targeted but failed to materialise, with the east London side then landing Joao Mario on-loan from Inter Milan and signing Jordan Hugill from Preston.
A number of outgoing deals were also made, with Andre Ayew rejoining Swansea City and Diafra Sakho ending his sorry spell at the London Stadium, but there could have been more deals being completed.
The Mirror states that West Ham rejected an approach from fellow strugglers Newcastle United for the services of England World Cup hopeful Joe Hart, with Moyes insistent that the 30-year-old still has a part to play this season.
Signed on-loan from Manchester City for the season, Hart has lost his first-team spot to Adrian in recent weeks and an exit from the FA Cup at the hands of Wigan Athletic means the Three Lions stopper faces a struggle to earn regular opportunities.
Newcastle boss Benitez was keen to offer Hart an escape route but Moyes insisted that Hart has a part to play in the remainder of the season, despite currently being frozen out of the side.
