West Ham were left looking over their shoulders towards the relegation zone after a crucial weekend of Premier League action left things extremely tight at the foot of the table.

The Hammers sit just three points above the bottom three heading into a mammoth relegation tie against Swansea City this weekend, where another defeat would leave David Moyes’ side in the lurch.

West Ham were not expected to get too much out of their trip to Anfield last weekend, where Jurgen Klopp’s talented Liverpool side ran out comfortable 4-1 winners, but the performance of a debutant attracted some attention.

Former French international Christophe Dugarry was far from pleased with the display he saw from his compatriot Patrice Evra, who made his debut for the Hammers after signing on a free transfer earlier this month.

Speaking to SFR Sport, Dugarry said:

“He was good that game, no? He lost 19 balls, late for everything. I found him very good. Well, I found him at his standard. It’s got nothing to do with him. I’m just looking at what he does on the pitch. Even if I don’t like the player or the man himself, I’m just looking at what goes on on the pitch,”

Evra, now in the twilight years of his career, faces continued scrutiny after leaving Marseille earlier this season following a clash with a supporter.
