West Ham face an incredibly difficult challenge this weekend as they travel to Anfield to clash with Jurgen Klopp’s free-flowing Liverpool side, who have the second-best goal scoring rate in the Premier League.

The Hammers enter this weekend’s clash just four points above the relegation zone and could find themselves just a single point above the bottom three if they lose and results elsewhere go against them.

However, former Arsenal defender Paul Merson believes that a defeat this weekend is not signifiant for David Moyes’ side, although he anticipates there’s nothing that can be done to stop the Reds.

Predicting a 3-0 defeat for the Hammers, he said:

“I have no idea how West Ham can go about stopping Liverpool’s front three, they are very, very good. West Ham won’t have written this game off but it is a free swing, if they lose this game it doesn’t affect them in the grand scheme of things.”

Both side’s had last weekend off due to the FA Cup and will return fresh for the tie on Merseyside.
