West Ham are desperate to bolster their underperforming side during the January transfer window but David Moyes is likely to face a stern test in his attempts to lure prime targets to the London Stadium.

The Hammers are hardly the most appealing club in the Premier League at the moment and could crucially face rival interest from fellow English sides in the market, which looks to have brought the end of their hopes of signing one midfield target.

The Express states that West Ham’s London rivals Tottenham Hotspur are plotting a fresh move for Barcelona outcast Andre Gomes, with the Euro 2016 winner said to not be keen on a transfer to the Hammers this month.

Gomes has struggled to earn regular football since moving to the La Liga leaders from Valencia in 2016 and the 24-year-old could be pushed out of the door following the club’s capture of Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool last year.

Both West Ham and Tottenham tried to sign Gomes late on in the summer transfer window, before Barcelona pulled the plug on a deal, and it seems the chances of West Ham securing his signature this month have decreased dramatically.
