West Ham are pushing ahead in the transfer market for additional recruits, as they seek to bolster their squad for the remainder of the Premier League campaign.

The Hammers have struggled to keep their head above water so far this season but have enjoyed an upturn in form under the guidance of David Moyes, now sitting six points above the drop zone, and the Scottish boss now wants to make an impact in the market.

Moyes has identified the midfield areas of the squad as being in desperate need of additions and a number of names have been mentioned, although it appears that the Hammers have set their sights on an ideal target and are pushing for a move.

The Daily Mail reports that talks between the Hammers and Italian side Inter Milan are continuing regarding the services of Joao Mario, with the San Siro giants looking to offload the experienced international this month.

25-year-old Portuguese ace Mario is surplus to requirements in Milan and Inter are looking to offload his services this month, although a permanent purchase may be necessary for the Hammers if they cannot secure a loan deal.
