West Ham boss David Moyes is ready to fight a relegation rival for the services of an in-form striker who has caught the eye this season.

The Sun claims that the Hammers are the latest club to express an interest in Peterborough United’s 23-year-old striker Jack Marriott, who has impressed in League One this season with a haul of 18 goals in the league and 24 across all competitions.

Interest in Marriott’s services is high, with Leeds United and Aston Villa amongst the Championship sides eyeing his services, but there is also interest from the top-flight; with West Ham ready to rival Crystal Palace for his signature.

Roy Hodgson’s side initially planned to move for the striker at the end of the season but the rise in interest has forced their hands, with reports now stating the Eagles are plotting a bid worth £7m for the talented forward.

West Ham could easily equal that fee with an offer of their own though, particularly as the likes of Andre Ayew, Diafra Sakho and Javier Hernandez are all linked with exits this month.
