West Ham are set for a busy final week in the January transfer market as they seek to land the recruits who can significantly bolster their ranks.

The Hammers are just six points clear of the Premier League’s relegation zone in what is one of the tightest battles at the bottom of the table in years, with half of the sides within the top-flight being embroiled in the fight.

David Moyes has remained keen to bolster his midfield options throughout the January transfer window but the quest to lure targets to the London Stadium has proved to be difficult- and the Scotsman has now offered an honest verdict on the club’s chances of signing two options.

Speaking to reports, Moyes has played down the chances of Inter Milan’s Joao Mario and Sporting Lisbon’s William Carvalho this month, stating that neither deal looks likely to go ahead.

“I don’t think so because one was meant to be a loan and the other would have been a transfer which I don’t think will happen now because Sporting are top of the League. So that would be a no as far as I am concerned,”

Moyes doesn’t seem to be keen on loaning Mario and Carvalho has long been off the cards.
