West Ham look set to sanction a controversial transfer in the week ahead, with reports stating they’re due to approve a departure to a fellow Premier League struggler.

The Daily MirrorĀ states Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson is confident of securing the services of Senegalese striker Diafra Sakho by the end of the week, with the 28-year-old desperate to end his spell in East London.

Sakho has become increasingly frustrated with his lack of first-team opportunities with the Hammers and has clashed with the club’s hierarchy on a number of occasions regarding his lack of action, which has left the writing on the wall for the experienced striker.

David Moyes is more than happy to offload the African ace this month, as he seeks attacking improvements of his own, but approving a deal to a fellow Premier League struggler could come back to bite the Hammers in the latter stages of the season.

West Ham are currently level on points with Crystal Palace after 22 matches played, with both sides sat just two points above the relegation zone.
