West Ham United are looking to make a big move in the market but it won’t come on the field, with the man in question instead being a potential senior appointment behind the scenes.

The SunĀ states the Hammers are fighting Premier League rivals Huddersfield Town for the services of Lokomotiv Moscow sporting director Erik Stoffelshaus, who has made a huge impression in Russia since moving to the club earlier this year.

The German, who moved to the club in January, is said to have transformed the scouting and recruitment team at the Russian side, with the 46-year-old’s input helping to put the Moscow team eight points clear at the top of the table.

As the campaign approaches it’s final ten games, Lokomotiv’s success is attracting plenty of suitors and West Ham will have a fierce battle with Huddersfield for his services, with the West Yorkshire side also keen to bring him into their set-up.

Huddersfield’s Head of Football operations David Moss left in October after only five months at the club and has left a big whole for the newly-promoted side to fill.
