West Ham continue to struggle near the foot of the Premier League table and David Moyes’ side have certainly not been helped by their injury troubles.

The Scottish boss is still awaiting his first victory in charge of the Hammers and has seen a number of first-team players ruled out during the opening weeks of his tenure, including two senior strikers.

Javier Hernandez is approaching a recovery but Andy Carroll, the other senior option for the Hammers, is also battling to make his return and the England international won’t be available for this weekend’s clash with Chelsea.

The 28-year-old is yet to return to first-team training butĀ The Daily MailĀ state the Hammers do not think his absence will be long-term, as they anticipate welcoming the former Liverpool and Newcastle United striker back into action before Christmas.

Carroll has been short of his best form this season and certainly needs to improve in the coming weeks, particularly as the Hammers are being linked with a number of attacking recruits ahead of the January transfer window.
