Everton could name former West Ham boss Sam Allardyce as their new manager before the two sides meet on Wednesday night.

The duo, who currently sit 16th and 18th in the Premier League respectively after poor starts to the season, go head-to-head Wednesday evening Goodison Park with both sides in dire need of a victory.

The two clubs have both sacked managers this season. While West Ham swiftly replaced the dismissed Slaven Bilic with David Moyes earlier in the month, Everton are still to make a permanent appointment after parting ways with Ronald Koeman, with former player David Unsworth currently taking temporary charge of the Toffees.

Now, after making failed approaches for Watford’s Marco Silva and Diego Simeone of Atletico Madrid, Everton could appoint Sam Allardyce as their new boss within 24 hours.

The Daily Mail report the Merseyside club have spoken to Allardyce about the vacant job and are keen to appoint the ex-West Ham and England man as soon as possible in order to help turn around their thus far dismal season.
