West Ham are set to renew their interest in Sunderland defender Lamine Kone, with manager David Moyes keen to add the Ivory Coast international to his squad, reports the Derby Telegraph.

Kone was part of the Sunderland team relegated from the Premier League last season under Moyes, however the Scot seems not deterred by his record in the top flight, and could be ready to launch a bid for him after the New Year.

Kone joined the Black Cats from French club Lorient for £6m in January 2016, and the Hammers would expect to have to pay a similar amount for him should they wish to lure him back to England’s top flight.

The Ivorian enjoyed a fine start to life in the Premier League, however was since come under criticism for his work-rate and attitude at the Stadium of Light.

Linked with a move to West Ham in the summer, as well as Everton, Kone could finally be on his way out of Sunderland in January.
