West Ham have been handed a boost ahead of the January transfer window amidst reports that suggest a striking target of theirs could be available in the New Year.

The Daily Telegraph states that defending Premier League champions Chelsea are eyeing strikers in January to provide support and competition for summer signing Alvaro Morata, with the Blues unconvinced on young Michy Batshuayi.

£33m Batshuayi has been a peripheral figure this season, making just three starts, and it’s reported that he could be sent out on-loan in January if a new signing comes in- and that could open the door for West Ham to swoop.

West Ham were heavily linked with Batshuayi earlier this year, with reports in May stating he’d be open to a loan move across London, and David Moyes could look to complete a deal when the transfer window re-opens in two months time.

Javier Hernandez has struggled since returning to the Premier League, and has a frosty reception in Moyes due to the pair’s time with Manchester United, and a lack of depth in attack has severely affected the Hammers this season.
