Premier League football returns this weekend after a two week absence and West Ham know they have a lot of work to do, having slipped into the relegation zone prior to the international break.

With just two wins from eleven matches, Slaven Bilic was axed last week and replace by David Moyes- who’s set to have his first match in charge of the Hammers this weekend away to high-flying Watford.

The Hornets have impressed this season but have struggled at Vicarage Road, with their loss against Everton two weeks ago seeing West Ham slip into the relegation zone, so the Hammers will be hopeful of a result.

Whilst they’re not in the best run of form, BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson is predicting a 1-1 draw between the two sides this weekend. Writing in his weekly predictions, the former Liverpool man said:

‘I am expecting to see a reaction from the Hammers because as a player you always want to impress a new manager and, although West Ham are in the bottom three, there is a lot of quality in their team.’

‘Watford have won only one of their five home league games this season, against Arsenal, so Vicarage Road is not exactly a fortress. Moyes will be expecting a committed performance and, if he gets one, I don’t think West Ham will leave empty-handed.’

However, a point wouldn’t necessarily be enough to lift West Ham out of the drop zone due to Bournemouth’s superior goal difference.
