West Ham have a lot of work to do in the months ahead if they’re to push away from the Premier League’s relegation zone, after slipping into the bottom three prior to the international break.

That led to the Hammers dismissing Slaven Bilic and replacing him with experienced boss David Moyes, who is aiming to turn the club’s fortunes around and find some stability in the side after a difficult 18 months.

Moyes takes charge of the club for the first time this weekend against Watford at Vicarage Road but the most crucial period will come in the New Year, where the Hammers will look to improve their squad in the transfer market.

According to The Daily Expressthe West Ham boss have promised Moyes the funds to bring in as many as four new signings during the mid-season window, with Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho back on the cards.

West Ham failed with an approach in the summer but could return for the Portuguese international, though Moyes will also have his sights set on improving his squad in other areas/
