Everton could name former West Ham boss Sam Allardyce as their new manager before the two sides meet on Wednesday night.
After making failed approaches for Watford’s Marco Silva and Diego Simeone of Atletico Madrid, The Daily Mail report the Merseyside club have spoken to Allardyce about the vacant job and are keen to appoint the ex-West Ham and England man as soon as possible in order to help turn around their thus far dismal season.
Everton currently sit 16th in the Premier League after their poor start to the season, however go head-to-head Wednesday with the a team in just as a bad way, with the Hammers 18th in the top flight.
While it’s a crunch match regardless – with both sides in desperate need of a victory – the potential appointment of Allardyce adds extra spice to an already intriguing fixture.
Add to the mix that David Moyes too will be facing off against his former club at Goodison Park on Wednesday, and the stage is set for a interesting evening of football.
Moyes? Allardyce? Moyes? Allardyce? It’s deja vu for both sets of fans …

Everton going for Simeone and ending up with Allardyce… West Ham wanting Ancelotti/Mancini and ending up with Moyes… Two stories that completely epitomise the hubris of mid-to-lower table Premier League clubs.

2017 – Moyes at West Ham and Allardyce at Everton. We can confirm, this is the darkest timeline.

Moyes last EFC game was against Allardyce’s West Ham. We mocked WHU about him being their manager and now we desperately need him. Spooky how this Wednesday the managers reverse
