West Ham have struggled for consistency this season and remain in the Premier League’s bottom three after a 1-1 draw with Leicester City on Friday night.

The Hammers have won just two of their 13 matches so far this season, scoring just 12 goals, and a lack of firepower in attack has been cited as one of the main reasons for the struggles of the East London giants.

Fans are desperate to see changes and many have called for young Uruguayan striker Toni Martinez to be given his chance, as the 20-year-old has been in exceptional form for the Hammers’ development squad this term.

However, despite being named on the bench recently, Martinez is yet to get his opportunity in the first-team and that’s led to growing frustration amongst the supporters, who are keen to see a forward who has scored ten goals in 12 games given his chance.

Moyes seems prepared to give opportunities to younger players but revealed ahead of Friday night’s draw with Leicester why Martinez is yet to get an opening, as he’s quoted by Football.London as stating:

“I have always wanted to introduce young players. Declan Rice has already been in. The big thing for Martinez is that he got competition in front of him so we have people who can do that role. Domingos Quina has trained with us too where we are short in midfield.”

Martinez will be fighting to feature again ahead of Wednesday night’s crucial clash with fellow strugglers Everton, with the Hammers then facing a stern test against Manchester City on Sunday.
