West Ham striker Diafra Sakho has reiterated his stance that he wants to leave the Hammers for a new challenge.

The 27 year old controversially flew to France in the closing stages of the summer transfer window to have a medical at Ligue One club Rennes. West Ham did not give the forward permission to make the trip, and subsequently the player remained at the club with no sale agreed.

Speaking to Belgian journalist Claude Atcheba about his future with the Hammers, Sakho did not hide the fact he wanted to depart the club:

“I still want to leave. I always say it. I don’t hide it. Whether the fans are happy or not, I want to change environment. I want to see something else in regard to everything happened to me. I think going to France would be good to find a challenge for my career.”

Sakho has scored once in the Premier League so far the season, coming off the bench to score the winning goal against Swansea City at the end of last month. He has not started a league match this campaign.

In the Carabao Cup however, manager Slaven Bilic has chosen him to start both in the second and third round ties. He scored against both Cheltenham Town and Bolton, helping the Hammers to the last 16 of the competition.
