Former Watford head coach Walter Mazzarri has been contacted by both West Ham and Everton over the past week, according to Tuttomercatoweb.

The Italian was sacked before the end of last season by the Hornets, and has not been in work since he departed Vicarage Road back in May.

The former Napoli and Inter Milan manager was reportedly contacted by the Hammers after the club’s dismal 3-0 home defeat to Brighton on Friday night, but the club’s board have opted to give current boss Slaven Bilic more time to turn things around.

Tuttomercatoweb reports however that Everton have actually added Mazzarri to a shortlist of candidates for the role of head coach at the Merseyside club. The Italian has been joined on the list by Burnley’s Sean Dyche as well as former manager David Moyes.

Mazzarri’s record at Watford saw him win 12 games, draw seven and lose 22 of his 41 matches in charge.
