West Ham secured a much-needed victory in midweek against Tottenham Hotspur, fighting back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 and sealing their spot in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup in the process- where they’ll face Arsenal.
The Hammers were off the pace during the first-half, entering the interval two goals behind, but a superb turnaround gave the visiting supporters at Wembley Stadium something to cheer about and will have raised optimism ahead of this weekend’s crucial Premier League clash with Crystal Palace.
Slaven Bilic, who’s job remains under threat, opted to select an experienced side for the cup clash against Tottenham but still featured some young talent- with highly-rated defender Declan Rice playing at the heart of defence.
The youngster struggled in the first-half, as did the rest of his team, but will be pleased with the turnaround and will hope to retain his spot in the side for the clash against Arsenal later this year.
For now, he’ll look to try and push his way into contention for opportunities in the Premier League but he’ll need to take it slowly- and it seems he’s content with celebrating the recent win on social media for the time being.
