Former Hammers midfielder Dimitri Payet admits he acted like a d***head in order to force a move out of West Ham.

After arriving from Marseille in the summer 2015, the Frenchman quickly established himself as a talisman for the club.

The fan favourite was part of the Premier League Team of the Year as West Ham finished 7th in 2015/16.

However, the 30 year-old caused a stir in January as he sought a move away from the London Stadium. He refused to play for the club and the West Ham faithful quickly turned on him for displaying a lack of loyalty.

However, in an interview with French magazine So Foot, Payet showed little remorse in his actions and said Slaven Bilic had no choice but to sell him.

“I know how to be a d**khead,” said the Frenchman (via Eurosport).

“It’s one of my specialties. It’s a little game. When I want to p*ss everyone off, I do it.

” My managers understood that: when I sulk, they talk to me. It’s a way for me to be heard. Those who know me play along, and in the end it goes well.”

The midfielder has featured 16 times in Ligue 1 since his switch from East London.
