West Ham midfielder Edmilson Fernandes could be out of action for some time after suffering a suspected sprained ankle while on international duty.

Football London claim the Swiss Under-21 international has been sent for a scan and reports suggest the ankle is sprained, we are unclear how severe the damage is.

The midfielder has been involved in all three of West Ham’s opening league games. Slaven Bilic’s side are yet to earn a point this season, but have a great opportunity to get off the mark against Huddersfield on Monday night.

It’s ominous news for the West Ham faithful. Bilic already possesses a thin squad and other unconfirmed social media rumours suggest Manuel Lanzini is likely to miss the Huddersfield home game and possibly beyond then.

Andrew Ayew is a also a doubt for Monday night after he picked up an thigh injury while on international duty with Ghana.
