West Ham United goalkeeper Joe Hart says last night’s victory over Huddersfield Town was a ‘huge relief’ and is glad to get to winning ways with his new side.

Hart – who joined the Hammers on a season-long loan from Manchester City earlier in the summer – was yet to taste victory in the Premier League with his new club having lost all three of the opening games, however did so for the first time last night.

Slaven Bilic’s side emerged 2-0 victors thanks to goals from Pedro Obiang and Andre Ayew, and Hart has praised his team-mates for securing the first three points of the season.

“There is no point in lying, it was a massive relief.” said Hart before adding: “I think we stuck to the plan and fully deserved to take the points. We are up and running, it’s nice to be at home and it’s nice to get the win.”

The England number one also insisted the importance of keeping the momentum going, saying his side must take the same mentality into next week’s fixture against West Brom.

“It’s not going to be one for the football purists. It’s going to be a tough game and we have to show that same passion to win it. I am excited to be here and I just want to keep improving.”
