West Ham are ready to turn their attention to Sunderland midfielder Didier Ndong after talks with Sporting Lisbon over the transfer of William Carvalho continue to stall, reports the Independent.

The Hammers have been in negotiations with the Portuguese club over the transfer of the 25-year-old midfielder for a number of weeks now, however despite the player agreeing personal terms with the East London club, a fee still cannot be agreed between the two clubs.

Sporting are thought to be demanding around £40 million for his services, while West Ham are understood to only want to pay around £32 million.

With the deal becoming increasingly unlikely to materialise with only a week remaining in the transfer market, the Hammers may offer Sunderland midfielder Didier Ndong a second bite at the Premier League cherry.

The defensive midfielder was relegated with the Black Cats last season following joining from Lorient last summer, but could be set for top flight action again with West Ham if they miss out on Carvalho.
