Under fire Crystal Palace boss Frank De Boer is lining up a move for West Ham flop Jose Fonte in an attempt to save his already in danger career at Selhurst Park, reports The Mirror.

De Boer, 47, joined the Eagles in the summer however is already under pressure following his side’s dismal start to the Premier League season.

Palace lost their opening day fixture to newly promoted Huddersfield Town 3-0, before being beat 1-0 by Liverpool at Anfield a week later. This weekend’s 2-0 defeat to Swansea City mean De Boer’s side have failed to register a Premier League point or goal this campaign, yet have conceded six in three games.

The former Inter Milan manager however believes the signing of West Ham flop Jose Fonte could be the answer to solving his defensively problems.

Fonte – who had an excellent spell with Southampton between 2010-2016 – joined the Hammers in January for a reported £8 million, but has since struggled for form since his switch to the London Stadium.

He and West Ham have had an equally tough start to the new campaign having too lost all three of their top flight fixtures to date against Manchester United, Southampton and Newcastle respectively.

Should Palace move for Fonte, they would be expected pay a similar fee of that West Ham paid for the Portugal international back in January.
