West Ham are growing increasingly frustrated in their pursuit of Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho, with the two clubs still differing in their valuation of the 25-year-old, reports The Telegraph.

The Hammers have already lodged a club record bid of around £27.1 million plus add ons for the Portugal international, however it is understood that his current club are holding out for as much as £40 million.

Carvalho has reportedly already agreed personal terms with West Ham ahead of the proposed move, however with the ongoing saga with regards to his transfer fee, it is becoming less and less likely that Carvalho will be in Claret and Blue before the end of the month when the transfer window shuts.

Should the Hammers complete the signing of the Euro 2016 winner, he would become the club’s sixth signing of the summer, following in the footsteps of Joe Hart, Pablo Zabaleta, Marko Arnautovic, Javier Hernandez and Sead Haksabanovic -all of whom joined the club earlier this summer.
