West Ham remain confident of completing a deal for Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho, despite the move stalling over discrepancies in the players valuation, reports Sky Sports.

The Hammers have lodged a club record bid for the sought after midfielder believed to be in the region of €30 million plus add ons, however Sporting are holding out for as much as £40 million for the Portugal international.

The Portuguese club have continually changed their asking price for Carvalho over the past weeks, leading to frustration from the Hammers who were looking increasingly likely to miss out on the 25-year-old.

However with Carvalho having reportedly agreed personal terms already with the East London club and West Ham still in talks for his signature, the midfielder remains set to make to switch to the London Stadium in the coming week.

Carvalho was left out of the Sporting’s matchday squad for the 0-0 Champions League play-off first-leg draw against Steaua Bucharest on Tuesday.
