The last time I saw a photo of Andy Carroll doing the rounds on social media, it wasn’t of him bagging a goal in West Ham pre-season as I would have hoped and expected. It was instead of him in a bar at silly-o-clock in the morning, looking, to say as politely as possible, worse for wear.

Now, I am in no way one of these people/journalists/fans that believes footballers shouldn’t be able to go out and enjoy themselves because they are ‘professionals’. I’m a ‘professional’ (use the term lightly) journalist, and I still like to go out on the odd (or not so odd) bender.
Go out, enjoy yourself, you’ve hard a tough season and now time for a break. Have one too many beers. That’s life.
In the case of Andy Carroll, however it rings uneasy to see him out instead of focusing on his football.
Such photos and/or rumours – whatever you’d like to describe them as – do little to endear him to the West Ham fans, and do nothing but shorten his already inevitably short Hammers career.
It is about time the club parted ways with the former England international this summer, and here are five reasons why …
