Diafra Sakho is expected to continue his return to first team action tonight as West Ham’s U23s face Billericay Town in a pre-season friendly and could be back for the first home game of the season, says Football London.

The Senegal international played a key role in the U23s recent 3-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur, getting a valuable hour of playing time under his belt. While he is not expected to be given 90 minutes due to Terry Westley wanting to assess his options ahead of the start of the new season, Sakho is still set to cotinue his rehab efforts.

Sakho spent most of last season on the sidelines with back to back hamstring injuries, making only 3 starts and scoring 1 goals for Slaven Bilic’s side.

The 27-year-old forward has been given a tentative date of return of September 11th when the Hammers play their first home game of the season against newly promoted Huddersfield Town.
