West Ham United striker Javier Hernandez says West Ham have the ‘belief and confidence’ to take all three points away from St James’ Park this weekend.

The Hammers travel to Teeside on Saturday afternoon looking for their first points of the new Premier League season having lost their opening two fixtures to Manchester United and Southampton respectively.

Despite coming away empty handed in their first two fixtures however, Hernandez believes his side have what it takes to walk away from Newcastle with three points in hand.

“Obviously, the last two weeks weren’t in the way we wanted to be, as we had two big losses, but we won in the cup in midweek and that can build up the team, the spirit and the confidence to go to Newcastle and try to make a better performance.” said Hernandez speaking on whufc.com.

“Hopefully we can show an improvement and have the victory, as that’s what we want. It will be positive to go into the international break on the back of a win, then come back to play an important game on the Monday night against Huddersfield.”

Saturday’s tie is Slaven Bilic’s sides fourth consecutive away game in all competitions, and the Hammers will have to wait until September 11th for their first home game of the season when they welcome Premier League new boys Huddersfield Town to the London Stadium.
