Newcastle United have emerged as surprise favourites to sign West Ham keeper Adrian, with the Spaniard thought to be looking for a move away from the London Stadium, reports the Daily Mail (via Team Talk).

Adrian is thought not to want to play number two to West Ham’s new signing Joe Hart, and may move elsewhere in search of regular first team action next season.

Should the former Real Betis shot-stopper leave the club, he would be the second keeper in a matter of days to do so, with Darren Randolph quickly jumping ship after the signing of Hart, joining Middlesbrough for similar reasons.

Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez had previously identified current Napoli No1 Pepe Reina as his top target between the sticks, however with a move for the former Liverpool star unlikely to come to fruition, he has now turned his attention to Adrian.

Crystal Palace are also interested in the £3 million rated star.
