West Ham’s move for Bayer Leverkusen forward Javier Hernandez today moved another step closer to completion after the forward landed in London for a medical, says the Evening Standard.

A £16 million fee for the player has already been agreed between the two clubs, and with Hernandez earlier this having agreed personal terms with the Hammers, all that remains for the move to go through is the medical.

Should the Mexico international pass, the 29-year-old would become West Ham’s fourth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Pablo Zabaleta, Joe Hart and most recently Marko Arnautovic from Stoke City.

The former Manchester United star – who left the Premier League in the summer of 2015 for Leverkusen – is set to become the Hammers highest paid player of all time, and will earn reported £140,000 per week upon his return to England’s top flight.

Mexico’s all time top scorer with 49 goals, Hernandez has enjoyed two successful seasons in the Bundesliga, scoring 39 times in 76 appearances.
