West Ham face competition from London rivals Chelsea for the signature of Javier Hernandez after the Bayer Leverkusen striker has emerged as a surprise target for Blues boss Antonio Conte, reports The Sun.

The Mexico international is set to move away from the Bundesliga this summer and West Ham are favourites to land the £13 million rated man, however now will have to compete with Chelsea for the former Real Madrid loanee.

Hernandez has enjoyed a successful two year spell in Germany since leaving Manchester United on a permanent deal in the summer of 2015, scoring 39 times in 76 appearances for Leverkusen. ‘Chicharito’ is also his country’s top ever goalscorer having found the net and impressive 48 times for Mexico.

The interest from Chelsea comes after their top transfer target Romelu Lukaku joined Manchester United in a shock deal worth £75 million. With striker Diego Costa also set to leave the club this summer for Atletico Madrid, the Blues are searching for a new replacement for the Spaniard.
