West Ham waved goodbye today to goalkeeper Darren Randolph as the Republic of Ireland international joined Championship side Middlesbrough in a £5 million deal.
The loan signing of Joe Hart at West Ham all but signalled the end of Randolph’s career at the club, and he will now begin a new adventure with Middlesbrough.
The 30-year-old keeper joined the Hammers from Birmingham City in the summer of 2015 and has since made 42 appearances for Slaven Bilic’s side, last season establishing himself as the Croatian’s number one choice between the sticks.
The ROI keeper is Boro’s sixth signing of the summer after the Teeside club have already secured the services of Jonny Howson, Cyrus Christie, Martin Braithwaite, Connor Roberts and Britt Assombalonga.
While he may have come under criticism at times from West Ham fans, many were quick to thank the keeper for his years of service at the club, taking to Twitter to share their appreciation for Randolph …
Good luck at @Boro, @RandzOfficial #COYI https://t.co/nWV9V5Ahj4

One thing I'd say about Randolph is he always gives it his all. Even though he made mistakes you could just tell how passionate he was.
