West Ham, despite finishing 11th last season, had a disappointing campaign.
For much of the year, the Hammers were stuck in a relegation battle with many of the teams in the bottom half of the table, and struggled to adapt to their new home at the London Stadium.
Improvement came as the year went on however, and Slaven Bilic having had a good transfer market this summer (and perhaps not done yet) will be looking to kick on pick up where his side left off into next season.
The Hammers fixtures list for 16/17 looks less than kind, especially around Christmas, where they face four of the big six back-to-back leading up to the New Year. The opening fixture is also against Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United, which will doubt be a test of the Hammers metal.
Should the club want to succeed next season, they will need to rely on their biggest and best to perform throughout the year. If they do, West Ham should be once again challenging for Europe.
