Ashley Fletcher has completed a Ā£6.5 million move to Middlesbrough, only a year after joining West Ham United.
The Englishman had been on pre-season with the Hammers, travelling to both Austria and Germany with the squad, however yesterday flew home to complete a deal to the Championship side as he looks for more regular first team action.
The striker became a Hammer last summer, joining on a free transfer from Manchester United, but has since struggled to establish himself in Slaven Bilic’s squad.
Fletcher made only two starts and 16 appearances in total last season, finding the net just once, that being against his former club United.
The move comes only days after the Hammers completed the Ā£16 million signing of Bayer Leverkusen forward Javier Hernandez, which all but sealed the end of Fletcher’s career at the London Stadium.
West Ham fans have taken to Twitter to wish the young star luck in his new ventures, with some wishing he had given perhaps a little more of a chance in Claret and Blue …
