West Ham have expressed interest in signing Brentford forward Jota, according to sources at Sky Sports.

The former Celta Vigo star – who signed the the Bees back in 2014 – has impressed since returning from his brief loan spell with Eibar in late December, scoring 12 times and providing 5 assists as Dean Smith’s side finished 10th in the Championship.

Brentford recently triggered a one-year extension on the Spaniard’s contract after his impressive performances in the latter half of the season, however it is believed the 25-year-old would be allowed to leave should a Premier League club come sniffing and would be available for around £8 million.

West Ham are looking to bolster their options in attack before the new campaign begins in August having struggled in front of goal last season, and believe the dynamic Brentford man could fit the bill. After Dimitri Payet left the club in dramatic circumstances earlier this year, the Hammers remain with Manuel Lanzini as the only natural attacking midfielder within their ranks.

Swansea and Everton are also said to be interested in the 25-year-old.
