West Ham target and Chelsea forward Bertrand Traore is on the verge of a £16 million switch to Ligue 1 side Lyon, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

Traore spent last season on loan with Dutch side Ajax, where his impressive performances and 13 goals helped the club to a close second placed finish in the Eredivisie, as well as Europa League final where they lost out to Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United.

It was initially thought the Burkina Faso international would return to Chelsea or move to another Premier League club with both Everton and West Ham interested in a potential deal, however that now looks unlikely with a switch to France close to being completed.

“We want to bring Bertrand Traore to the club,” said Lyon President Jean-Michel Aulas at the club’s most recent press conference, “‘There are advanced talks there, but many clubs are interested. We absolutely want to do the deal.”

Should the proposed deal go through, it is likely to set in motion a chain of events, with Alexandre Lacazette seemingly set to move to Arsenal in a deal worth £50 million and in-turn Olivier Giroud to leave the Gunners in search of first team-football.

Giroud has been heavily linked with a move to the London Stadium over the past few weeks.
