West Ham striker Ashley Fletcher is a reported target for newly promoted Huddersfield Town, according to reports from The Mirror, after turning their attention from Leeds striker Chris Wood.

David Wagner’s side were reportedly to have identified Wood as one of their marquee signings this summer, but having been put off by his hefty price tag, have now turned their attention to Fletcher instead.

Signed from Manchester United last summer on a free transfer, the 21-year-old striker has struggled for game time at the London Stadium, making only 20 appearances, mostly as a substitute, in all competitions and scoring only once – that being against his former club in a 4-1 defeat in the EFL Cup back in November.

The Terriers are said to keen on bringing Fletcher to the Kirklees Stadium on a season long loan deal ahead of the new campaign as manager David Wagner looks to strengthen his side following promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs at the end of last season.

Championship trio Fulham, Middlesbrough and Norwich are also interested in the 21-year-old, and will hope West Ham allow him to leave for more regular first team football.
