Eupen have turned down a £7 million bid from West Ham for flying forward Henry Onyekuru, according to reports from Belgium.
Onyekuru finished as the First Division’s joint top scorer last season with 22 goals, and his fine performances caught the eye of a number of clubs across Europe, including Southampton, Celtic and Arsenal.
The Gunners looked prepared to make a move for the promising Nigerian youngster, however West Ham appeared to have beat Arsene Wenger’s side to it with their £7 million late into last week, only for the bid to be rejected.
Despite the bid meeting the 20-year-old’s alleged £6.8 million release clause, Eupen are this far refusing to part ways with their prized asset, with the club stating they wish to sell Onyekuru to a ‘more prestigious club’.
The news was greeted with mixed reactions by Hammers fans and others, many of whom took to Twitter to share their opinions on the Belgian sides snub of The Academy of Football …
If that is true about onyekuru then we are a laughing stock….. well more so

Onyekuru wanting to join a more prestigious club is like me wanting a date with Scarlet Johansson. Not going to happen.
